In this year’s technical forum Digimat UM held in Berlin, the Technyl® team presented to more than 200 industry experts its latest efforts in expanding the success for injection molding simulation to additive manufacturing.
DIGIMAT & Sinterline®
In cooperation with e-Xstream, Technyl® has in the past decade well established the MMI Technyl® Design for injection molding simulation, an advanced predictive platform that helps manufacturers understand the real behavior of materials before moving forward with physical production phases.
“The combination of DIGIMAT simulation software (from e-Xstream) and our high performing Sinterline® PA6 powders will greatly benefit 3D parts producers” says Dominique Giannotta - 3D printing Sinterline program leader at Solvay Performance Polyamides. “Small series productions of more predictable and accurate parts will enable our end customers (OEMs and Tiers 1) to feel more confident when anticipating the part performances compared to injection."
“We started the use of Digimat AM software for 3D printing from a real customer case of Charge Air Cooler demonstrator,” said Lucie Berger, CAE engineer from Solvay.”We are very excited to predict the best printing orientation and the part dimensions with the software.” The same design was first produced with injection molding of a Technyl® grade and then with SLS production of Sinterline® powder.
Technyl® has been the first user of e-Xstream’s Digimat AM tool to predict 3D printed part performance and dimensions. It has also been modelling for three years the accuracy and mechanical performances of 3D printed parts made with Technyl® Sinterline® PA6 powder.
“Technyl® and e-Xstream have proven that Digimat is able to give a good prediction of 3D printed part dimensions and burst pressure for both technologies“ said Elodie Seignobos, 3D printing Lab manager from Solvay. “The mechanical performance of Sinterline® part even closes the gap with injected solution.”
The main advantages of Additive Manufacturing compared to injection molding are to save costs and time of developments for the production of small quantities of parts.
Then combine Digimat and Sinterline® to maximize your chance at accelerating your time to market!
